Vancouver Healthcare Worker Marjorie was recently awarded Classic LifeCare Employee of the Month. Within her first month of working at Classic LifeCare, Marjorie’s impressive hard work ethic and compassion earned her recognition.
Marjorie Has Big Dreams of Becoming a Nurse
Originally from the Philippines, Marjorie moved to Canada four years ago with her family. She was drawn to the opportunities that Canada offered, especially in terms of education. Marjorie has a naturally caring nature, working as a nanny for six years prior to her role as a Healthcare Worker at Classic LifeCare.
Since she was a child, she has been eager to pursue a nursing career. “I think a career as a Nurse is meaningful and rewarding. I like how I can make a difference in other people’s lives by supporting them and caring for them.”
In pursuit of this dream, she recently graduated from Drakes Medox College Vancouver as a Healthcare Assistant. This program included a mix of healthcare theory and practical experience.
Marjorie found the Classic LifeCare orientation smooth and easy to understand. “My previous studies benefitted me when completing the Classic LifeCare orientation as the information was still fresh in my head. I like the educational resources available on the employee website as they enable me to continue learning.”
Working as a Healthcare Worker at Classic LifeCare
Marjorie first learned about Classic LifeCare through her friend who worked as a Healthcare Worker at Classic LifeCare. She recommended Marjorie apply for a healthcare worker position to gain experience and help her get into Nursing School which requires 600 hours of healthcare experience. Already, she believes that she is gaining valuable experience.
Marjorie’s duties as a Healthcare Worker at Classic LifeCare include assisting clients with personal care like bathing and grooming, transferring clients using ceiling-lift transfers, preparing meals, and performing light housekeeping. She also accompanies some clients to appointments and provides companionship.
Forming relationships and receiving gratitude from her clients for her high-quality work is what Marjorie enjoys most about her role. She was delighted to receive an award after a short period of time. She also credits the Classic LifeCare office staff in Vancouver for their support. “Whenever I need support from the client care coordinators or the nursing team, they always answer the phone and are ready to help me.”

Marjorie Enjoys Spending Time with Her Family When Not Working as a Healthcare Worker
Appreciating the work-life balance that her role offers, Marjorie enjoys spending time with her family. She has two daughters and therefore works while they are in school. This allows her to spend time with her family in the evenings and at the weekends.
Marjorie is grateful that she started her Healthcare career at Classic LifeCare Vancouver. After getting a taste of the healthcare industry, she is determined to further her studies and become a Nurse.
