With a remarkable tenure of 21 years, Petronila, also known as Nellie joined Classic LifeCare as a Registered Health Care Aide in 2002. Nellie is a dedicated and valued member of the Classic LifeCare Vancouver team.
Originally from the Philippines, she decided to pursue a better life in Canada back in 1995. Nellie was attracted to the country’s promising employment opportunities, education system, healthcare services, and high living standards.
Becoming a Registered Health Care Aide
Nellie enrolled in a Registered Care Aide program, aiming to forge a career in the healthcare industry. The program provided a list of potential employers, and it was through this avenue that Nellie was introduced to Classic LifeCare, an encounter that would shape her professional journey.
When asked about her favorite aspect of being a Registered Health Care Aide, Nellie says “the satisfaction I get from helping others. Witnessing the happiness of my clients and their families while knowing I am making a profound difference in their lives brings me great joy.”
The Responsibilities of a Registered Health Care Aide
Each passing year allows Nellie to accumulate more experience, as she encounters clients with varying physical and mental challenges, each requiring different types of care.
These include providing personal care such as dressing, bathing, grooming, and feeding. She assists clients with mobility and accompanies them to engaging activities like bingo, card games, and carpet bowling. Additionally, Nellie supports her clients during grocery shopping, medical appointments, and leisurely strolls.
Furthermore, Nellie undertakes light housekeeping duties and offers companionship, always prioritizing the safety and well-being of her clients. Effectively communicating important updates to both the client’s family and the Classic LifeCare office team is another vital aspect of her responsibilities.
Nellie’s Commitment to Classic LifeCare
Nellie is a dedicated Classic LifeCare employee who gives everything in her work. She values the consistency, stability, and flexibility that her role offers.
When asked to describe Classic LifeCare in three words, Nellie chooses “Agile, Motivational, and Transparent.” She appreciates the frequent communication from the office team, as it provides clear guidance and direction to employees.
Outside of her work, Nellie enjoys attending church, cooking, reading, sewing, and watching movies.
