Love, friendship, family and music keep Alberta couple Bob and Jean happy in their new home in Calgary.

Bob & Jean’s Love Story

Bob and Jean, both in their 90s resided in Edmonton for the past 20 years and recently relocated to Calgary to be closer to family.

They married 20 years ago blending their families, which include his two, and her three children. They knew each other long before they were a couple and Jean was friends with Bob’s late wife.

What brings them joy? Bob and Jean are both music lovers – jazz and classical. Bob obtained his pilot license years ago and bought himself a plane. He has been active throughout his life, skied regularly until about six years ago, and golfed every morning with his buddies.

Jean owned and ran fabric stores and loved to be up-to-date with the latest trends in fashion. She also sold real estate. She sang when she was a child, professionally as an adult, and says she still loves to sing today.

Bob, retired President of a big cement company, spent most of his life on the prairie in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.  He did extensive travel through the US for many years before meeting his beloved ‘Jeanie.’

We’ve been very close friends for a long time

Regina, Saskatchewan is where Jean called home until moving to Alberta later in life.

Along with their home in Edmonton, Bob and Jean had a place on Vancouver Island so they could live between the climates of Alberta and British Columbia.

Part of the reason for the move to Calgary is their shared battle with progressive dementia. Classic LifeCare provided full-time care for them in Edmonton and continues to provide care for them in Calgary.

While dementia affects them day to day and adds to the numerous changes they have been through recently, their love for each other is the constant in their lives.

Their family hopes they will get out more often now that they live in Calgary to enjoy activities out of their home and live in the moments that matter.
